WELCOME TO UNSEENinTHAILAND
5 DAY TOUR (23H) - 20th to 24nd September 2023
Conclusion

With this tour underway on only my second day in Thailand is quite an achievement. I had just 5 days to play with and with the reach of over 400 kilometres or just over 5 hours. The principal objective was to add one more province to my visit list, one that has eluded me for a long time. I was aware that Phichit had historic significance but quite how much, was a surprise to me, the highlight being the old city and its ancient monuments.
The three nights I spent in the province gave me a great insight into life in rural Thailand away from the trappings of tourism. Apart from the historical aspect of this region I was surprised by the opportunities open to local people for recreation and knowledge almost all of it free. We spent the last night in Sukhothai hoping to attend a football game. The fixture did exist but too late I realised that it had been cancelled. Nevertheless, we recovered to watch an evening game in Uthai Thani and still managed to make it back to Bangkok.
As well as adding Phichit to my long list of provinces visited the route also took us close to the state railways northern line. The number of photographs and the videos I took for my Youtube channel far exceeded expectations.
The weather on this tour was hot with little rain unlike what might be expected at this time of year.
