WELCOME TO UNSEENinTHAILAND
DAY TRIP (23G) - 19th September 2023
Tuesday 19 September - Bangkok

Delayed....... Arriving back in Bangkok yesterday, today the idea is to immediately start planning for an upcoming event. However, almost immediately that planning gets delayed by one week. So, what does one do when plans go awry? Well, go traveling of course but not quite yet. To avoid a wasted day despite having only just arrived back in Thailand, we might as well at least go out for lunch and end up by a small lake in pleasant surroundings. So, while I collect my thoughts on what to do next, let's just head off to see some trains.
Rangsit Railway Station....... Arriving at Rangsit railway station in Pathum Thani I'm aware that the station has been completely upgraded not only to handle long distance trains from the terminal in Krung Thep Apiwat but also regional trains. it is also a terminal station for the SRT Red Line commuter trains. The station is on 3 levels with the ground level reserved for mainline trains, the second level is for the concourse while the electrified Red Line is on the third level. Thankfully, access for the mainline trains avoid using ticket barriers but this is not so for the Red Line where access is only possible using the barriers. With all the upgrades going on with Thailand's railways I know I'm in for a bit of a learning curve. At least the hour here proves quite productive. Now in mid-afternoon I don't intend to make this a difficult day but there is a location we could try on the way back to the residence.
Bueng Kham Phroi Skywalk....... Bueng Kham Phroi Skywalk is located in Lam Luka district, Pathum Thani province. I located this on Google map which is often the way I find attractions often only known to local people. Bueng Kham Phroi is a small lake developed as a community recreational area. The area to the northeast of Bangkok is low lying with numerous lakes and ponds. Surrounding Bueng Kham is an avenue of trees ideal for walking or jogging. Nearby there is a volleyball court and one for squash. However, the best-known attraction in this area is a skywalk which consists of an elevated walkway offering gorgeous views of the lake and park. The Skywalk opens at 4:30pm so we're just in time and for just 10 baht, spending some time here is worthwhile.
We return to the residence picking up some food on the way avoiding the need to cook and closing out a pleasant first day in Thailand.
