Chalawan Cave, Phichit Historical Park, Mueang Kao, Mueang Phichit District

The so called Chalawan Cave was an underground tunnel designed for escape should the city fall into enemy hands. Today nothing of the cave remains having been infilled overtime. The name Chalawan was given to a giant crocodile which traumatized local people. The story of its demise is part of folklore in Phichit.
