Üsteğmen Nazif Çakmak Anıtı is a monument built in the name of Nazif Çakmak, the younger brother of Marshal Fevzi Çakmak, in the area in front of the Atatürk Monument. First lieutenant Nafiz Çakmak was martyred while defending the hill against the New Zealand forces on August 8 during the command of his company. Although there is a sign relating to his death on the monument, Nafiz Çakmak fell in the area where the fountain is located today.
