The Somdej Phrachao Taksin Maharat Shrine is the principal feature at Wat Kasem Simaran in Ban Hat Lek. King Taksin (1734-1782) was the only King of the Thonburi Kingdom. He became leader in the liberation of Siam from Burmese occupation after the Second Fall of Ayutthaya in 1767. The shrine is constructed in the form of a hat that King Taksin generally wore in a style commonly found throughout Thailand.
