Kaeng Lamduan or Kaeng Lamduan Rapids is located in the area of Ubon Ratchathani Wildlife Conservational Promotion and Development Station in Ban Khae Don, Dom Pradit Sub-district, Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, which is approximately 16 kilometers from the city center of Nam Yuen District. Kaeng Lamduan Waterfall is where water flows along the rock islets for around 200 meters and is a part of the Lam Dom Yai River. It is surrounded by various types of plants, especially Lamduan trees from which its name derives. Due to the natural beauty of rock islets and the clean water, a lot of tourists visit Kaeng Lamduan each day. The interesting activities in Kaeng Lamduan are swimming in the shady location and walking along the provided route to see nature in the caves and islets. More specially, during late August and the middle of September, tourists will see the amazing phenomenon called 'Parading Shrimp.' Millions of tiny freshwater shrimps unite to parade on the rock terrace along the edge of the islets, heading to the high peaks of Phanom Dong Rak mountain range. These shrimp go parading at night after heavy rain or in the river rapids between the months of August and September when there may be flash floods. As a result, tourists should be aware of danger and listen to warnings from Ubon Ratchathani Wildlife Conservational Promotion and Development Station. The station has installed news broadcasting towers at both the station and Kaeng Lamduan. These towers can warn tourists right after receiving the report of water levels from the watching point.
