Monument No 1 (Kile Wat Sri Ping Mueang),
Chiang Kham District, Phayao Province

Historical Monument No 1, also referred to as Kile Wat Sri Ping Mueang (Wat Sri Ping Mueang neighbourhood) has no distinct record regarding its construction, its name referring to the nearby historical site.
The principal feature is the rectangular base for the viharn with its main stairway on the east side and another minor stairway to the rear facing south. The architectural evidence indicates that the meeting hall was built of brick housing the principal Buddha image. The roof was constructed in Lanna style, a multi-storey collar-beam structure covered with clay tiles.
The key artifacts found were pottery fragments from the Lanna kilns which with the architectural style date the building to the 16th/17th century. The temple was abandoned in the 19th century.
