Wat Sri Ping Mueang, Wiang Lor Ancient Town, Chiang Kham District, Phayao Province

Located to the east of Wiang Lor, there is no distinct record of construction for Wat Sri Ping Mueang. The key historical site is the bell-shaped chedi in Lanna/Sukhothai style. This style suggests that it was built in the 15th/16th century. The Department of Fine Arts restored the site in 1993.
Previously there was a large base for a viharn on the east side of the chedi but for around 50-60 years there was no place for the local people to worship. They therefore built a smaller prayer hall on the base of the older one.
To the northeast of the viharn there is an ubosot which was restored on the old base. Inside there are three sandstone Buddha figures in the Lanna style of the Phayao school of craftsmanship. These were originally in the old ubosot. The local people call these images ‘the Three Brother Buddhas’ and hold them with great pride and joy as part of their ancient heritage.
