A section of the Ban Rong Hai Historic Site, is located at the southern end of Phayao Lake. The Fine Art Department excavated the site in 2003 and found the remains of a chedi, a viharn and two other buildings enclosed within an outer wall. Buddha images recovered at the site are from two different periods but the original construction is at least 2,000 years old.
