Phra Mahathat Naphamethanidon and Naphapholphumiri,
Doi Inthanon National Park, Chiang Mai Province

The stupas, Phra Mahathat Naphamethanidon and Naphapholphumiri are Buddhist places of worship containing the Lord Buddha’s relics from many sites. The Royal Thai Air Force constructed the stupas in commemoration of Their Majesties the King’s and Queen’s Sixtiest Birthday Anniversaries in 1987 and 1992 respectively.
Arriving at the chedis there is a fee to pay of 40 baht payable to the RTAF at the checkpoint. There is a drop-off point near the chedis, baring in mind most people arrive here by passenger van. The rest park on the roadway below. The chedis are already a place of pilgrimage for visitors internationally who come to pay tribute to the life of the Buddha. What is really thoughtful are the two escalators installed one for each chedi.
