There are no historical records found related to Wat Phra Ood, the name being given by local people.
Excavation and restoration was carried out on the site by the Fine Arts Department between 1999 and 2001. In the temple compound there is is the base of a brick chedi situated behind a large viharn facing east. From archaeological evidence this temple has been dated from 16th-17th century.
