The Lamtakong Site is located on a hilltop to the southeast of the main reservoir. It consists of an upper reservoir created with an asphalt lining 2,170 m (7,119 ft) long and 50 m (164 ft) high. It has a capacity of 10,300,000 m3 (8,350 acre⋅ft) and surface area of 0.34 km2 (0.13 sq mi). This is the upper storage for the reversible pump generators installed underground below. The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) has also installed a number of wind turbines in the area supplementing the capacity of the hydro power plant.
