Mu Soe (or Doi Muser) Hill Tribe Market,
Mae Sot District, Tak Province

The Doi Musoe Hill Tribe Market and Black Musoe Museum are situated in Lahu or Musoe Village on the Tak-Mae Sot Highway (Route 105), km 28. Local products from Musoe people are available here. The museum, featuring Musoe and other hill tribes’ tools, is located inside the market area.

Doi Musoe Market, in fact, comprises of 2 markets: Old Musoe Market and New Musoe Market. They are 1 kilometer away from each other. The goods sold in both markets are more or less the same. The only difference is that Old Musoe Market, more bustling than the other, is a tent market located on the road side whereas New Musoe Market is a newly built market with more parking lots.

The majority of the goods sold are agricultural products such as coffee, shitake mushrooms, strawberries and avocados as well as brown rice and other warm-climate and native fruits and vegetables. The vendors are all local. Apart from that, handcraft goods, for example, clothes and silverware, are also available in both markets. The markets open everyday, however, some stalls might be closed early due to the difficulty in travelling for the vendors.
