The Rattanakosin Memorial Bridge, Tak

The Rattanakosin Memorial Bridge or “Sapan Kwaen” was built in 1982 by the Tak Provincial Industry Administration Organization in order to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Rattanakosin Kingdom. The bridge is 2.50 meters wide, 700 meters long with 5 concrete foundations. This bridge used to connect the city of Tak with Tambol Pa Mamuang. Previously people could travel over the bridge by motorcycle or bicycle but not anymore. It’s now a footbridge only, a place for absorbing the view of Ping River with decorative lighting on the bridge which is beautiful at night when the stars are shining. This place is a must for the tourists who get the chance to visit Tak province. The Rattanakosin Memorial Bridge is one of Tak’s important tourist sites.

Around the bridge there is beautiful parkland along the Ping River with the Kittikhun Building holding activities. These days, this bridge is used for the Loy Krathong event in Tak province. The Krathongs are made from coconut shells which can be found only here.
