Construction work is advancing on the Bang Sue-Rangsit: 21.6 km (13.42 mi) section of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) Dark Red Line. As of June 2019 the structure of this elevated section is complete and fitting of gantries for electrification is underway. The line is due to open in 2020. At Lak Si the Dark Red Line runs along existing track. Lak Si will be the 5th station (RN05) running north from the central station at Bang Sue.
