The Hua Lamphong-Lak Song extension of the Blue Line is nearly complete but in December 2014 the civil engineering work was about two thirds complete with slow progress thereafter due to the tunnelling under the Chao Phraya River and other issues. Finally it is now due to open on 12 August to Tha Pra and to Lak Song in late September 2019.
