Sam Chuk Market, Sam Chuk, Suphanburi Province

Sam Chuk Market, also known as the 100 year old Rim Nam Market is a Chinese community and old-fashioned market, complete with wooden shop houses retaining its authentic Thai style, dating from a century ago. Visitors can explore the traditional shops, including a photography store that continues to use a century-old camera, a herbal drugstore, or enjoy tasting local sweets and sipping old-fashioned local-style coffee by the river. A three-story building, now transformed into a museum, displays photos from olden days, taking visitors back to a bygone era. In 2009, the Sam Chuk Old Market received an Award of Merit in the 2009 annual UNESCO Asia–Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation.
