Bao Dai’s Summer Palace, Dalat

Bao Dai’s Summer Palace, actually the third of three palaces in Dalat, is located in woodland to the south of the city, a former hunting ground. Built between 1933 and 1938 by French and Vietnamese architects for King Bao Dai, the last King of Vietnam the palace has 25 rooms on two floors. From 1938 to the end of WWII the palace was Bao Dai’s summer home then from 1949 to 1955 is had a more administrative use while he was Chief of State.
Today the visitor can enjoy the beautifully tended gardens as well as witnessing a piece of history at Bao Dai’s Palace now frozen in time.
