Koh Khao Phing Khan is more generally known as "James Bond Island" since it was chosen as a location for the filming of the spy thriller, The Man with the Golden Gun in 1974. At that time the island received little attention; just the occasional boat trip out from the Panyee River. However since the island was included in the creation of the national park in 1981, the island has become a must see destination.
