Nakhon Ratchasima FC v Sukhothai FC
Friday, 21 February 2025

The game between Nakhon Ratchasima FC (The Swat Cats) and Sukhothai FC (The Fire Bats) kicks off at the 80th Anniversary Stadium in Nakhon Ratchasima at 19.00 and something has to give. Neither team have won a game in the last five. The game gets off to a blistering start with the first shot of the game coming from Frenchman Greg Houla for the Cats. However, at the other end Madagascan, John Baggio is on fire his trickery allow him to get a cross into the box from the left wing, but a defensive header gets deflected back into the danger area and Siroch Chatthong is on hand to find the back of the net. It's 1 : 0 to the visitors after just 4 minutes and it gets worse for the Cats. Just 4 minutes later Baggio is at it again. He's put through this time on the right wing and drives in a low cross which finds the feet of Japanese Hikaru Matsui who volleys in at the near post. The home crowd are stunned, but the cats manage to reorganize and on 31 minutes find the back of the net themselves. They win a free kick outside the box on the right side and the ball is driven in low hardly getting above knee height into a ruck of players not expecting it and Brazilian Dennis Murillo is the first to the ball burying it in the net. There are no further goals in the half, but there's still everything to play for.
The second half sees the Cats having more of the ball as The Bats run out of steam. Have they finally got to grips with John Baggio? It's no surprise when the Cats on 50 minutes find an equalizer and again it's from a set piece. The ball is crossed to the far port where Frenchman Greg Houla nods the ball down and fires a shot right at the goalkeeper hugging the near post. It's a wishful ball but the keeper fumbles and the ball slips over his head and nestles gently in the net. Now can the Cats clinch it; there plenty if time? But the Bats dig in and the Cats are frustrated. The game ends with honours shared with both teams thinking what might have. Certainly both manager will be wondering where the next win is coming from but at least they are safe for now.
