Today an appointment is made for Nopparat Hospital following a visit yesterday, but I'm concerned they will admit me there. My leg is still infected, and after 10 days of outpatient treatment, that doesn't seem to be working. I'm ready to make the call to head for Pak Chong, which, although more than 2 and a half hours away, has significant advantages; the main one is that a family member there works as a doctor. He doesn't work as a general doctor, though, but can pull some strings.
We arrive before midday, and he's immediately available to fast-track things, for which I am most grateful. Tests begin immediately. The first test is a chest X-ray, and then just after 2:00 PM I'm settled in a private ward with more tests started, including taking blood and blood pressure checks. Antibiotics are administered from 6:00 PM.
Regarding the ward I'm in, it's a private ward, but I'm using a government hospital again, as treatment is inexpensive and I'm not insured. I'm expecting the cost of this admission to be not much more than the cost of insurance.
Into the evening, an issue that's been a factor for some while rears its head, as blood pressure readings exceed 200. Tension has set in, and it's past midnight before there's improvement.
